HERE'S WHAT YOU MISSED FOR YOUR NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION

NY Res

Let’s admit it. New Year’s resolution get a bad reputation. We constantly hear about the same never actually resolved resolutions every year: lose weight, eat healthier, cut down on social media time. However, what if the problem isn’t that we can’t stick to resolutions, but that we aren’t focusing on the ones that are outside the traditional new year resolutions? New Year’s resolutions don’t have to have a bad reputation. Instead, let’s focus on resolutions that will kick off our decade right. Here are three New Year’s resolutions that you might have forgotten to include for 2020. Lucky for you, you have all year to work on them!

  1. Learn how to say “No” more

The fear of letting others down can easily consume all our decisions. Saying yes can be so much easier than saying no. But learning how to say no more allows us to also take care of ourselves, and therefore be more helpful to others in the future! Don’t forget to focus on your own care as well, and sometimes saying no more is the best decision for everyone involved.

  1. Stay in touch with people who matter

With the craziness that life throws at us, it’s easy to take a back seat in catching up with loved ones. Just a simple text or call letting those who matter most know you are thinking about them makes all the difference in the world.

PRO TIP: Set a reminder in your phone or pencil it into your schedule as a way to prioritize catching up time with loved ones. Seeing the reminder instead of keeping it in your head will keep you accountable in giving the call.

  1. Give yourself and others one compliment each day

Words of affirmation can be contagious. Being kinder to others and ourselves can make 2020 kinder for everyone.  Giving compliments to yourself might seem awkward at first, but with time will help lift up your confidence. One small compliment each day to family, friends, or co-workers is a huge step in making those around you feel known.
