6 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO SUPPORT RACIAL EQUITY IN THE WORKPLACE

  1. Take Harvard’s Implicit Association Test to assess where you are at in your anti-racist journey.
  2. Read, Listen, and Learn. Read read a book, review an article or blog or listen to a podcast. Learn a new perspective that may be life altering in a positive way.
  3. Non-people of color to take a honest, heartfelt look at your staff and colleagues and start a conversation. It may be awkward, strange and uncomfortable, but that’s okay.
  4. People of color to start opening yourselves to others and sharing your stories in a respectful, mindful way so that others can not only understand but can empathize and learn what they may be able to do.
  5. Speak Up & Out about an injustice or uncomfortable situation as it happens everyday. Allies and advocates need to support others so they will know they are not alone.
  6. Join an ERG. We need our ERGs and all of our dimensions of diversity to shine now more than ever. ERGs are for learners, supporters, and allies. Visit www.ymcadallas.org/ERG to register.
