2015 Leadership Awards Winners
THEODORE BEASLEY DISTINGUISHED LEADERSHIP AWARD
Michael P. Haggerty received the Theodore P. Beasley YMCA Distinguished Leadership Award for his dedication and services to the Dallas community. Haggerty has served on the Board of Directors for nearly 14 years serving on the Executive and Finance committees along with serving as the Chairman of the Board from 2010 - 2012. Haggerty’s long time commitment to the YMCA’s mission and dedication to the children and families of our community exemplifies the spirit of the Theodore P. Beasley Distinguished leadership award.
The Theodore P. Beasley Award is given annually in recognition of outstanding service and leadership to the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.

CHARLES P STOREY STRONG COMMUNITIES AWARD
L.G. Fuller received the Charles P. Storey Strong Communities Award for his dutiful service to the Moorland YMCA community whose volunteer service spans more than 40 years. Whether it was his involvement with helping construct the football field, serving as Board of Management Chair or raising money for the Y, Fuller’s leadership not only strengthened the Y but the whole Moorland community. Fuller’s commitment to the Y has helped deliver a lasting personal change for his community, providing a place for generations of children and families to learn grow and thrive.
The Strong Communities Award is given to a YMCA volunteer who has been instrumental in creation and perpetuation of a local YMCA.

2014 Leadership Awards Winners
Theodore Beasley Distinguished Leadership Award
The Theodore P. Beasley YMCA Distinguished Leadership Award was given to David Folz on April 9, 2015 for his dedication and services to the Dallas community. In 2009, he joined the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Foundation Investment Committee and is currently serving as the Chair of the Foundation. David’s dedicated and distinguished leadership embodies the spirit of the Theodore P Beasley Award. David Folz’s passion and commitment to the YMCA mission will continue to impact the children and families in our community for generations to come.
The Theodore P. Beasley Award is given annually in recognition of outstanding service and leadership to the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.
Charles P Storey Strong Communities Award
Larry Parks received the Charles P. Storey Strong Communities Award on April 9, 2015 for his dutiful service to the Rockwall community. Larry began serving on the Board of the YMCA in Rockwall in 1987. He has served in numerous capacities, including: Annual Campaign Chair, Major Gifts Chair, Leadership Development Committee Chair and Chairman of the Board. For nearly 30 years, Larry Parks had been an iconic face of the JER Chilton YMCA in Rockwall. Larry’s association with the YMCA has opened doors and has created opportunities for the Y to grow in Rockwall.
The Strong Communities Award is given to a YMCA volunteer who has been instrumental in creation and perpetuation of a local YMCA.
George L Allen Distinguished Leadership Award
Vestana Wollos received the George L. Allen Award on April 9, 2015 for her passion and commitment to the South Dallas community. Born in 1912 on the corner of Romine and Latimer, Ms. Wollos was raised on the very corner the Park South YMCA sits on today. In 1968, then Mayor Eric Johnson and his wife posed a million dollar challenge grant to the businesses and citizens of South Dallas, Ms. Wollos donated her land to clear the way for the YMCA. Two years later in 1970, the doors of the Park South YMCA opened. Not only the YMCA, but the children and families of the Park South community are blessed to have had someone like her help lead the way.
The George L. Allen Award honors a member of the local minority community who consistently displays excellent leadership in community service.
YMCA Youth Character Awards
Four outstanding teens received the YMCA Youth Character Awards: Chase Thomas with the Frisco YMCA,Sharif Long with the Oak Cliff YMCA, McKenzy Smith of the McKinney YMCA and Derrick Golden (not pictured) with the White Rock YMCA.
2013 Leadership Award Winners
Theodore Beasley Distinguished Leadership Award
The Theodore P. Beasley YMCA Distinguished Leadership Award was given to J. Scott Moore on April 3, 2014 for his dedication and services to the Dallas community. Moore has served on the Board of Directors for the Dallas YMCA for 14 years and has served in several roles including Chairman of the Board. Moore's dedicated and distinguished leadership embodies the spirit of the Theodore P. Beasley Award.
The Theodore P. Beasley Award is given annually in recognition of outstanding service and leadership to the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.
Charles P Storey Strong Communities Award
Gerald Worrall III received the Charles P. Storey Strong Communities Award on April 3, 2014 for his dutiful service to the White Rock YMCA. Worrall's volunteer service spans almost 30 years at three different YMCA's in East Dallas. He has served as a board member, board chair, Partners campaign chair, Capital committee chair, and most recently a leader of our facilities committee which has worked on designing the new White Rock YMCA facility. Worrall truly exemplifies the mission, purpose, and ideals of the YMCA.

Four outstanding teens received the YMCA Youth Character Awards: Daniela Marin - Town North YMCA, Jessie Searles - McKinney YMCA, John Devine - White Rock YMCA, Angel Monjarraz - Irving YMCA.

2012 Leadership Award Winners
Theodore Beasley Distinguished Leadership Award
The Theodore P. Beasley YMCA Distinguished Leadership Award was given to Jim Adams, President of Innisfree Investments, for his longtime dedicated leadership services to children and families in Dallas. Jim has served on the Board of Directors for the Dallas YMCA for more than 2 decades and has served in numerous roles including Chairman of the Board. The Beasley Award is given annually in recognition of outstanding service and leadership to the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas.

Charles P Storey Strong Communities Award
Bill Keffler received the Charles P Storey Strong Communities Award for his long time service to the Richardson YMCA. Mr. Kefflers’ service of nearly 30 years as a YMCA volunteer has impacted thousands families’ life in Richardson. Bill’s leadership as the City Manager of Richardson not only strengthen the YMCA but the whole city, ensuring them a healthy place to live, work and play. Bill current serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Dallas. The Strong Communities Award is given to a YMCA volunteer who has been instrumental in creation and perpetuation of a local YMCA.

YMCA Youth Character Award
Five outstanding teens received the YMCA Youth Character Awards.
Sam Lawrence from McKinney, Alaina McClanahan from Park Cities, Triza N’Ganga from Irving, and Brook and Casie Ramsier from Plano.
2011 Leadership Award Winners
Theodore P Beasley Distinguished Leadership Award
Recipient Robert Hallam with Gordon Echtenkamp member of the Board of Directors since 1983, it is awarded for outstanding leadership to the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. Robert was honored for more than 20 years of dedicated service to the Dallas Y.
George L Allen Distinguished Leadership Award
This award has been given annual since 1990, for outstanding leadership in service to a community or to a special group of people who experience unique challenges. Calvin was honored for long time mentoring and his decades of service the Dallas YMCA and it's community.

The YMCA Youth Character Awards are given to youth who embody the four YMCA Character values- caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
