Gary Kelly Addresses Dallas Key Leaders
On October 30th, the YMCA held the 11th Annual Key Leaders Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Reunion. Nearly 500 community and YMCA leaders from around the area were in attendance.
Chairman of the YMCA Board of Directors, Paul Higgins, welcomed the group and served as the afternoon’s host. The event encouraged key area business leaders to become more involved in the community by highlighting the YMCA’s future strategies for strengthening the foundation of our community, by nurturing youth development, energizing healthy living and inspiring social responsibility.
Gary Kelly, CEO and Chairman of Southwest Airlines served as the keynote speaker for the luncheon. Kelly gave insight into his own YMCA experience participating in the Indian Princess (now Adventure Princess) Program. Kelly also spoke about the Airline industry and Southwest’s business strategies, giving perspective to the “Low Fares and More” brand. Kelly concluded his dialogue with Southwest’s international flight expansion plan and the design of bigger and more energy-efficient airplanes.
Gordon Echtenkamp, CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, said "Gary Kelly continued the outstanding tradition that has been established with the our annual Key Leaders event hosted by the Dallas Y. His remarks provided interesting insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by one of Dallas’s premier corporate citizens as they face their new reality with the sunset of the Wright Amendment."
Thank you to the generous sponsors of the luncheon!
