The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas was one of 8 charities selected as beneficiaries of the 2013 Crystal Charity Ball where a total of $4,740,415 was raised to support children in North Texas. For 62 years, The Crystal Charity Ball has funded buildings, facilities, scholarships and endowments, research programs and educational grants and provided equipment and/or furnishings for numerous agencies representing the diversity in our community.
Through the Urban Swim Program at the Park South Y, over 1,200 students from neighboring Dallas ISD elementary schools are transported to the YMCA for swim lessons during their school day throughout the school year. During the summer, the Park South Y recruits at area community centers and apartment complexes to offer Urban Swim lessons. Students receive swim lessons free of charge. The program increases water safety awareness and swimming skills. Upon completion of 8 lessons, participants receive a certificate and a family membership to the YMCA.
