FOUR Healthy SPOOKY Treats For Your Kids To Do
Try the spooky kid friendly recipes from our YMCA Community Health Cooking Demonstrations!
Ghostly Bananas
Peel bananas and cut them straight across about three-quarters of the way down. Using a dab of nut butter, stick three chocolate chips onto each banana to make a ghostly face.
Pumpkin Clementines
Peel clementines and insert a short celery stick into the top of each of them.
Monster Teeth
4 medium-sized granny smith apples, cut into 8 sections each
1 cup natural creamy organic peanut butter
1 cup mini marshmallow
1 Tbsp. lemon juice or cinnamon
Section each apple and then sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent browning. Spread about 1 tsp. of peanut butter on each slice. Stick 4-6 mini-marshmallows on an angle in the peanut butter, then place a second peanut butter-covered apple slice on top. (You may need to secure with a toothpick or extra peanut butter.)
Cool 1 hour in refrigerator before serving.
Witches’ Brooms
Start with a regular pack of string cheese. Cut the cheese stick in half. Dice the “bristles” about 3/4 of the way from the top. Cut 2-3 planks on one side, then rotate the cheese and cut 3-4 slices again, giving you matchsticks, or “bristles”. Tie a single fresh chive around the top, just for cuteness. Or skip it. Gently insert a pretzel.
