OUR WORK IS NOT POSSIBLE WITHOUT YOU
To say that 2020 was an unusual year would be a tremendous understatement. We started the year strong in our service to the community and were able to achieve our Annual Campaign goal two weeks prior to YMCAs being shut down for eleven weeks. Our commitment to the community never wavered. The work we were tasked with during shutdown was very different, but in true YMCA fashion we started responding to immediate needs. We were a center for food distribution, "care calls" were made to all our seniors, Semones team members served as emergency childcare workers, and we hosted blood drives.
As our YMCAs began to reopen, we knew that we still had a commitment to those who needed us most. Programs like Revitalizing Our Community, two summer camp-style programs provided in economically-challenged areas of our community, were more needed than ever. Being able to offer this program this summer meant that many of the children's parents could return to work after months of sacrificing their jobs to become "home-school" teachers. Camp looked different, with new safety and cleaning protocols, but regardless of these, kids could be part of a community, play and study together.
As we enter 2021, the need is greater than ever. We are grateful to be able to say, "yes, we can help" when a community need arises. We also know that all that we are able to do is made possible because of our donors like you. This year we have been tasked with raising $550,000 for our community.
