Support Your Community Through The Annual Campaign
For more than 130 years, the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas has ensured everyone has access to vital community programs and resources that safeguard youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Every day, we work to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues, such as school readiness, chronic diseases and food insecurities.
Last year, charitable gifts from our donors made it possible for us to help children learn how to swim through our Urban Swim and Make A Splash Program, gave children a safe place to learn and build confidence in our Afterschool Program, and exposed teens to the political process in the YMCA Youth & Government Program.
This year, we are launching our annual campaign to make sure everyone in our Dallas community has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Our goal is to raise over $4 Million to further support these programs and, most importantly, provide financial assistance and scholarships to make the Y accessible to all. We believe that no one should be turned away because of their financial circumstance. Just ask Linda Wilson from the JER Chilton at Rockwall YMCA.
When a family is experiencing financial difficulties, the one thing they hope for more than anything else, is stability for their children. Linda Wilson discovered this when she became the sole provider for her family. The YMCA believes strongly that everyone, regardless of their financial circumstances, can benefit from YMCA programs, and the Annual Campaign ensures that nobody is turned away due to an inability to pay. The Wilson’s received a scholarship and their boys continue to enjoy everything the Y has to offer. “The YMCA scholarship we were awarded was a blessing,” says Linda. “When other things seemed to have been turned upside down, the Y provided stability for my children. They love the YMCA caregivers and always want to stay longer - which speaks volumes! This gives me the peace of mind to go to work and know they are safe and well cared for while I’m away. Our Message is clear: The Y is more than a gym. It’s a cause. As a charity, we’re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and providing support to our neighbors.
