Y Commitment

Grandpa Granddaughter Elbow Bump

The YMCA is dedicated to the health and safety of our entire community, including our staff members. As COVID-19 is an ongoing global pandemic, the safety and health strategies we are employing are beneficial to individuals both at YMCA and while in the community at large.

Since reopening in June, we’ve taken measures to protect members including spacing equipment 6-feet apart, cleaning and disinfecting regularly throughout the day, requiring all staff to wear masks and requiring reservations for group exercise classes and childcare. All to keep you, our Y family, safe.

County and state health officials, along with scientists, agree that one the most effective things we can all do for one another is to wear a mask to help slow the spread of COVID-19. We require everyone who enters a YMCA facility wear a mask or face covering. We will be in compliance with Dallas County’s order which requires everyone to wear masks in gyms, with the exception being those that are actively working out or have difficulty breathing, those two years of age or under and in spaces when individuals can be properly distanced 6’ or more.

If our actions can prevent even one person from getting sick or even worse, losing their life, we will always make that choice. Because of this, the Y will continue to maintain these protocols throughout the pandemic, following the recommendations by county, state, health officials and scientists. That is our commitment.

We wish you all a healthy, safe and Happy Holiday season!
