Catie believes the human body is as an amazing machine and if it’s treated properly will get incredible results, not only in how you look, but more importantly, in how you feel!  Her favorite thing about being a personal trainer is helping clients realize their potential. She loves creating programs for people that will bring out their best, help motivate them to push harder, and persevere until they reach their goals. She feels one of the biggest rewards for her is when a client accomplishes something they've never done before!  Catie’s hobbies are: running, strength training, outdoor cooking and coloring and doing puzzles with my son

Education: Catie is a graduate of San Diego State University. She holds certifications from the Cooper Institute for CI-CPT, from Silver Sneakers as a group fitness instructor, and she is CPR/First Aid certified. 

Fitness Philosophy: Catie believes every one has an “inner athlete”. Her goal is to help others find that quality within themselves and use it to motivate them into living an active lifestyle, achieving their fitness goals, and maintaining their health and well-being.

Kylie has been a YMCA employee since September of 2007.  She is originally from Australia.  She is married and has two children.

Education: Kylie has a Level 1 and 2 Sports Trainer certification– Australian Sports Medicine Association; Level 1 Sports Administration; Level 1 Sports Coach USA Rugby; AustSwim Swimming Instructor; Basic Massage Certification; Yoga/Pilates Instructor; Personal Trainer SCW; Personal Trainer NASM, YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning; Competition Surf Life Saver (Bronze Medallion & Advanced Rescue Cert.)

Fitness Philosophy: Kylie believes that a body can be trained not only through the use of equipment but also through the use of the body itself. Kylie approaches her trainings from a “corrective exercise” standpoint. Her goal is to educate her clients on how to train properly. Productive training can take many forms, some of which might include Yoga, Pilates, and cardio. Her main philosophy is “It’s all about efficiency!”

 

Phil Ferrara

Phil has been associated with the YMCA since 1999 and has been with the Cross Timbers YMCA since 2004.  He earned a Juris Doctor from the University of ND as well as a BA in history.  Phil has over 35 years of experience in the fitness industry during which time he was a high school strength coach, a youth camp counselor, a swimming instructor and a Nautilus coach. He’s practiced at designing fitness programs, such as his popular BOOST class, and has proven success in helping his clients achieve their wellness goals.

Education: Phil holds certifications from the Cooper Institute as a Master Fitness Specialist, Personal Trainer, Biomechanics of Resistance Trainer. He’s a YMCA Group Fitness Instructor and LIVEstrong at the YMCA trainer.

Fitness Philosophy: Phil’s fitness Golden Rule a/k/a the law of fitness efficiency is - Never exercise more than is necessary to achieve your fitness goals.

Piper has always had a passion for sports and fitness. Her journey began in Grand Rapids, MI, playing youth sports at the local YMCA and progressed into a volleyball scholarship at Auburn University where she earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Post college her love for fitness took her into marathons, adventure racing and triathlons. All along her path she has encouraged and coached friends and co-workers in their fitness goals. When she retired from engineering 12 years ago to start a family, it was a natural progression into personal training where her knowledge of forces, moment arms, and levers now get paired with the human body and the wonderful personalities of the clients she works with. From endurance training, to improving flexibility and everywhere in between Piper loves helping everyone achieve their fitness goals.

Education: Piper has been certified as a Personal Trainer (American Council on Exercise - ACE) for 12 years and has been a group exercise instructor for over 10 years. She has certifications in indoor cycling, yoga, Pilates, SilverSneakers, step aerobics and balance programs.

Fitness Philosophy: Piper loves to help others obtain their fitness goals. Her idea of fitness encompasses all aspects of a person's life including: physical activity, flexibility, nutrition, daily living activities and life balance. If we want to be healthy individuals, we need to take it all into account. Julie’s early experience with health and wellness began with ballet and gymnastics. Later, she worked as a paramedic and studying nursing. It was at this time that Julie was diagnosed with cancer. The stress of this resulted in a major weight gain for Julie which put her at risk for diabetes. This was the turning point when she decided to turn her desire to help people into a career as a personal trainer. Julie has over 10 years of experience as a wellness professional and enjoys working with all health seekers, but has a particular focus on training active older adults, cancer survivors, diabetics and female clients.

Certifications: Personal trainer - Smart Fitness/NASM, Group Fitness Instructor – AFAA, Yoga, Mat Pilates and several Zumba certifications

YMCA Weight Loss Program facilitator.
