Y-Corps 2020

What is Y-Corps?

Y-Corps is a service-learning program for students currently in the 9th- 12th grade, to engage and provide a difference in the communities and Commonwealth of the country. Participants perform services across the state exposed to a wide range of cultures, research and identify services needs of the various communities, and demonstrate our character pillars.

The program incorporates the 4 types of service we emphasize at the Y:

  • Perform at least 50 hours of direct and indirect service in their local communities
  • Practice philanthropy by fundraising for our Scholarship Fund
  • Engage in advocacy on behalf of their Y-Corps teams and the YMCA Movement
  • Maintain required school attendance

The program culminates with a service/learning trip around the state of Texas.

Over the course of 6-months, students will work together to set and achieve various goals of service, philanthropy, and advocacy. The program conducts multi-day travel experience in June, performing service across a specific region as a team. Through a combination of hard work, cultural experiences, travel, self-discovery, and reflection, Y-Corps extends the Y's Mission into communities throughout our state and beyond.
