It was such a blessing to find out that my children qualified for a scholarship to cover the cost of Camp on the Lake. They enjoyed all of the activities such as archery, canoeing, swimming and games. Being a single mother, the cost of summer camp can be a huge financial burden. I have been struggling so hard to try to stay ahead of my bills, and with three kids, it’s hard. This means the world to me to have such caring people help us out. After spin class one morning Julie came to me in tears and said her husband had lost his job, she was looking for employment and had just had her third baby. Because of our scholarships Julie and her family were still welcomed at our Y and continued to stay healthy and work out. She knew of this because of our Annual Campaign.
John has been part of our swim lesson program for over a year. He loves the water and cannot wait for class. His parents have been receiving financial assistance since the first day he entered the pool. Now John is in our highest swim level for his age and eyeing the swim team for the Winter.
Thanks to you I am a YMCA member! I am a stay at home Mom and my husband was laid off from work. We are in the process of looking for work, but the job market and economy are very unstable. The stress and depression of being without a source of income has been eased by being active at the Y. The scholarship has made a huge difference in my life and I am truly grateful.” -Amy
