Summer Camp

We have three separate camp sites, at three different locations! This allows us to better serve and develop a specific camp for boys 7-12, camp for girls 7-12, and camp for teens. By surrounding each camper with others his or her age and skill level, we are able to better customize programs to fit your son or daughter.  Each program has the opportunity to progress to more challenging levels.

All three camps offer similar activities such as water skiing, wakeboarding, barefooting, sailing, riflery, archery, canoeing, swimming, blobbing and horses. In addition, all programs play Battle-O, have campfires, campouts, morning chapel, evening devotionals and Raggers.

MAIN CAMP: 7-12 yr old boys

Main camp is full of outdoor summer adventures for boys 7 - 12. Its location along the shores of Possum Kingdom Lake gives boys the opportunity to try their hand wakeboarding, sailing and more; all while strengthening their character and being a part of the camp community! (More about Main Camp)

RAY BEAN: 7-12 yr old girls

There is no place more fun for a 7 - 12 year old girl to be! We are silly (there is a lot of singing at the top of our lungs!), and we are also strong! Possum Kingdom Lake provides the perfect place for girls to try new things such as wakeboarding, kneeboarding, and the blob! We focus on showing girls that they can do so much more than they thought! (More about Ray Bean Camp)

FRONTIER CAMP: Teens Coed

Outdoor Texas youth camping at its best! This is the place where friendships are made that last a lifetime. Located on Possum Kingdom Lake, Frontier camp provides adventure and acceptance for boys and girls ages 13 - 16. Teens experience the joys that come from challenging oneself at the ropes course, on a canoe trip down the Brazos river, or honing archery skills. (More about Frontier Camp)

Building Character and Life Skills

What is even more important than fun?  Our activities give each camper an opportunity to build confidence and PRACTICE character in their actions as being responsible part of a cabin group. We nurture character development in campers by teaching the values of respect, caring, responsibility and honesty. With Camp Grady Spruce, your campers will:

  • Develop integrity, self-reliance and leadership skills in a caring environment.
  • Build lifelong friendships.
  • Enrich their spirit, mind and body through challenging and fun camp activities.
  • Gain an appreciation for the natural environment.
  • Experience a sense of community by living with campers in age-appropriate small groups with trained staff.

ACA Accreditation

We are American Camp Association (ACA) accredited. This assures you that camp practices have been measured up against 300 national standards that go a step beyond Texas' basic licensing requirements. ACA accredited camps voluntarily go through a rigorous risk-management process to provide a supervised, positive environment with controlled boundaries where children can grow.

YMCA Camp Grady Spruce is accredited by the American Camp Association and is visited every three years to assure compliance with the ACA standards. Why is this important?
