Preschool Care

Through our Preschool programs, children will be introduced to the important skills of building character values, self-esteem, and improving kindergarten readiness.

National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) Director W. Steven Barnett, PhD. emphasizes the importance of high quality preschool care. "Children who attend high-quality preschool enter kindergarten with better reading skills, richer vocabularies, and stronger math skills than those who do not," he says.

The YMCA Preschool program focuses on all areas of development for children of preschool age. These areas include fine and gross motor skills, physical activities, arts and crafts, science, math and counting, letters and much more.

Because childhood development is so essential to the Y’s core values, it is our top priority to provide children the necessary skills and appropriate environment in which they are encouraged to be creative, independent and responsible.
