MAKING YOURSELF A PRIORITY: BEST SELF-LOVE PRACTICES

With love being in the air during the month of February, it can be easy to find ourselves wrapped up in the lives of others rather than taking time to focus on ourselves. In order to cultivate a healthy spirit, mind, and body, it is important to participate in habits of self-love. Self-love looks different for each individual, but these five practices can help build a path in finding a regular self-love routine that works for you.

1.PRIORITIZE YOUR SELF-CARE

Self-care does not have to be a lavish and expensive priority; it can be as simple as turning your phone on silent to read your new book or enjoying a cup of tea after a long day. Allow yourself to find something that brings you joy every day and make it a priority.

2. BE PRESENT AND PATIENT

Practicing self-love cannot be a one and done kind of attitude. It takes time and consistency to cultivate a new attitude towards self-worth and growth. Allow yourself to be present each day and proud of the small victories.

3. STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS

With social media, it is becoming easier and easier to compare your life to others in just a single post. It is crucial to remind yourself daily that each person has their own specific path in life and no two paths look the same. Taking a break from social media at times can be a good practice of self-love as well.

4. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE THAT MAKE YOU SMILE

As obvious as this sounds, it is easy to ignore this practice altogether. Take a moment to go through the people that are closest to you and determine if they make you smile on a daily basis. If you are finding it hard to determine if they do or not, it is time to do what is best for you and your health.

5. FOCUS MORE ON THE THINGS YOU LOVE

This practice truly looks different for everyone. Write down a list of the top five things that make you happy. This can be hobbies, people, or events that bring you the most joy in a healthy and sustainable way. Now once you determined your favorites, plan out days to actually participate in them. Allow yourself the time to do more things you love and you will find a more balanced and fulfilled life.
