The YMCA of Dallas honored Maurice Compton with an All-Star Nomination for his outstanding leadership and impact at the Semones Y. In a challenging year for the community, Maurice has been a source of encouragement, joy, and stability for local teens and families.
He has grown Teen Night from 35 to over 75 participants, providing a safe and uplifting space for youth facing personal and community hardships. Maurice also introduced Monday Bible Study, the Sticky Fingers Culinary Program, and a reimagined Family Fun Night that drew over 300 people. Beyond programs, he is known for small, heartfelt acts of care—checking on teens after surgery, supporting families in crises, and personally connecting with members.
Maurice’s influence goes far beyond events and activities; he has built a true sense of community and belonging at the Semones Y. For his compassion, dedication, and leadership, he is celebrated as the “heartbeat” of the Y—and the kids fittingly call him “the GOAT.”
Longtime Waxahachie Family YMCA member, Dave McSpadden, shares how the Y shaped his life and why Waxahachie’s capital campaign is vital for the community’s future.
In partnership with the McKinney YMCA, the Dallas Wings are bringing the energy, the fun, and the fundamentals to girls ages 6–15 on October 13 at the McKinney Family YMCA!

She’ll share her inspiring story of breaking barriers, embracing self-care, and living with purpose.
