YMCA PROGRAMS SUPPORTED BY YMCA DAY OF GIVING:
The Catalyst Initiative supports the critical needs of North Texas families through free childcare for essential workers, virtual learning support, food distributions, blood drives, and more.
In YMCA Childcare programs, children have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a safe environment balancing academically rich activities and an enhanced focus on overall physical well-being.
SAFETY AROUND WATER
The YMCA Safety Around Water Apartment Swim Program helps reduce drowning by bringing crucial, life-saving swim skills directly to children in low-income apartment communities.
YMCA Youth Sports encourage and promote healthy kids, families, and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition, teamwork, and respect.
With your support, we can provide financial assistance to those in need and help your neighbors combat obesity and chronic illness, improve mental health, and create healthy family habits.
Every child deserves an active summer full of caring role models, but not every family can afford to send their children to camp.
YOUTH & GOVERNMENT
In Youth and Government, teens take on the roles of legislators, judges, lawyers, lobbyists, elected officials, and journalists in order to become responsible citizens and future leaders of our nation.
Because childhood development is essential to the Y’s core values, children at our Ashford Rise School, Park South YMCA Preschool, and Plano YMCA Preschool are introduced to the important skills of building character values, self-esteem, and educational excellence.
STEM programming at the YMCA is helping all children reach their full potential by supporting their unique youth development journeys. These activities help nurture their curiosity, inspire creativity and teach them how to succeed.
ABOUT YMCA DAY OF GIVING
YMCA Day of Giving began in the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina in 2015 as a one-day, all-hands-on-deck, hyper-focused campaign effort that engaged staff at all levels, committed volunteers, and acted as a final push for branches toward their Annual Campaign goals.
By 2018, YMCA Day of Giving spread to Texas at the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. In 2019, the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth and the Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA joined the initiative to make it a DFW metroplex-wide campaign. 2020 marked the launch of a nationwide partnership with almost 30 YMCA Associations celebrating this one-day giving effort. Whether in local communities or across the country, the Y recognizes that it is stronger when people work together. In 2022, this national one-day giving event raised over $950,000. Since its inception, YMCA Day of Giving has raised over $2.95 MILLION in charitable gifts to support local communities nationwide.
