GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR VISIT TO THE YMCA
This is a FREE service for those with a family membership.
Child Watch is more than just a safe place to look after your children while at the Y. Our Child Watch program offers children and babies the chance to get the most out of their own visit to the Y through playing, learning and staying physically active.
Child Watch is available on a first-come, first-served basis for our members. Our Child Watch room, located downstairs, welcomes children age 6 weeks to 5 years. Children age 6 to 10 have their own Child Watch area upstairs, where they have more room to play and interact with their peers. There is a ratio of one qualified childcare staff person per eight children; infants have one staff to four babies. There is limit of 1.5 hours for care while parents use our facility.
Child Watch hours:
Mon-Thur 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
4:30 to 8:15 p.m.
Friday 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Holiday hours may vary.
H.Y.P.E. (Healthy Youth Positively Engaged) is our Child Watch program that helps keep our elementary-aged members moving! H.Y.P.E. is available on Saturdays, as well as over the summer and after school, according to the RISD schedule.
H.Y.P.E. is available for the first 20 youth (ages of 6-10) who arrive at Child Watch. H.Y.P.E. is available during evening Child Watch hours Monday-Thursday from 4:30pm-8:15pm and Saturday mornings from 8am-1pm.
Children may stay for up to 1.5 hours, in accordance with our regular child watch hours. H.Y.P.E. participants will play various games ranging from Wiffleball, Basketball, Jump Rope, Crab Soccer, and other exciting high movement games! H.Y.P.E. takes place in the upstairs multi-purpose studio, gym, playground or outdoors.
