2020-21 SECRETARIAT

YMCA MUN
SECRETARY GENERAL, AIDEN ROSS

Hello, everybody! I am Aiden Ross and I will be serving as Secretary General this year. I’ve been doing Model UN for about 6 years now, and this is my 4th year in TXMUN where I have been both a delegate and a chair. I know that this year we will do what we’ve always done, and work to make the world a more peaceful and just place.

I am currently a senior at the School for the Talented and Gifted at Townview Magnet Center in Dallas! Aside from Model UN, at school I am involved in FRC robotics and Destination Imagination. I also represent District 11 on the Dallas Youth Commission and am a boy scout! While I am not a five-star recruit for any sport, I have done karate for almost 13 years now, and am a black belt. In my free time, I like to read and watch the news, watch sports, and am a very big fan of romantic comedies. I am very excited for this coming year of MUN, I know we’ll all learn a lot and most importantly have fun!

YMCA MODEL UN
DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL, GURNOOR NARULA

Hello, fellow delegates! My name is Gurnoor Narula and I am elated to be serving as the Texas Model UN Deputy Secretary General! Participating in Model United Nations for the third year, I look forward to helping shape our delegates into the progressive thinkers and persistent leaders of the future.

For the 2020-2021 school year, I will be a senior at Liberty High School in Frisco, Texas. Currently, I am part of the LHS Redhawk Marching Band as a Tenor Saxophonist while also serving as the President for the Liberty High School Band. In addition, I am also involved in DECA and Business Professionals of America. Outside of school, I have combined my passions for innovation and advocacy to launch a social impact venture, Groundify. When I’m not performing classical repertoire on the saxophone or running my own startup, you can catch me watching The Office or playing with my Goldendoodle puppy. I’m pumped about this coming year in Model United Nations and I hope, along with all of you, to make it one of the best years we’ve had so far!

MODEL UN
UNDER SECRETARY OF CONFERENCE, ASHLEY DELEON

Hello everyone! My name is Ashley De Leon and I'll be serving as your Under Secretary of Conference of the 2020-2021 school year. This year will be my third year of being a part of the MUN program. I could not be more grateful or happier to be a part of this experience and to be able to share it with you all virtually this year! I am a part of the White Rock YMCA and senior at International Leadership of Texas in Garland. I run Cross Country and track, and work in local politics a lot! In my free time I love to read or do simple contortions (look ‘em up!) But, with that aside I would just like to say that I am beyond grateful for this opportunity, last year opened up a lot of doors for me and I hope that the work we’re doing this year allows us to do the same for others. Can’t wait to meet you all and through zoom! Please feel free to email me at ashleydeleon.adl1@gmail.com if you have any questions or concerns!

YMCA MODEL UN
UNDER SECRETARY OF EDUCATION, MAHUM RANA

Hello! My name is Mahum Rana and I am the Under Secretary of Education for this school year. I’ve been a part of Model UN for 3 years and it’s definitely been a journey.  Being in Model UN has taught me countless lessons and gave me some life long friends from all over the world. This year will look different but it will be just as fun as it is every year. I can’t wait to share some amazing experiences with all of you.

I am currently a junior at New Tech High @ Coppell and I am the Director of Recruitment for my chapter. I am also a part of our Learner Leadership Council. A little about my history: I am Pakistani American and I was born in Arlington TX. I moved to Dubai when I was three and lived there for seven years before moving back in 2015. Since then I have always loved sparking political conversations among my peers. So I guess I’m pursuing my passion by being here.

YMCA MODEL UN
UNDER SECRETARY OF OUTREACH, FRANSECA ABUNDO

Hello everyone! My name is Francesca Abundo, and I am incredibly excited to be serving as your Model UN Under Secretary of Outreach this year. While I have participated previously as both a committee chair and delegate, this will mark my first online conference and I cannot wait to see what we can achieve with this platform.

In addition to MUN, I am also heavily involved in environmental and service-based activities, especially those incorporating peer-mentoring and teaching. Outside the classroom, I love to travel, skateboard and go on Friends marathons. This club holds a genuine place in my heart, so I really hope to learn more about each of you as the year progresses.

YMCA MODEL UN
UNDER SECRETARY OF MEDIA, FINLEY TIPTON

Hello! I am Finley Tipton, and I will be serving as the Under Secretary of Media for this year. I have been participating in Model United Nations for 2 years, and this will be my 3rd year with YMCA Model UN! I am so excited to help bring delegates together this year to learn and become better global citizens.

I am a junior at New Tech High @ Coppell this year, and outside of Model UN I am currently part of the varsity lacrosse team in Coppell, and I have been playing for 6 years. I am also a member of the Global Issues Club, NHS, and vice president of NTC, a leadership program at school! This is my 2nd year in theatre: this year, I’ll be performing in Once On This Island and All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten! I also love to paint, travel, read, and write. I am so excited to get more involved with Model UN this year, and I’m honored to be part of this team!

YMCA MUN
UNDER SECRETARY OF PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURE, TRISHA DASGUPTA

Hi everyone, my name is Trisha Dasgupta and it is an honor to serve as your Under Secretary of Parilamentary Procedure. This will mark my fourth year of doing TXMUN, and through being a delegate, a chair, and now a secretariat member, I have loved every second of it. I am so excited to help put together conferences and curriculum for all of our delegates and help teach my classmates about global cooperation, current affairs, and public speaking.

I am a junior at Liberty High School in Frisco Texas and in addition to MUN, I am an active member of the Youth and Government program. I also serve as an Editor-in-Chief of Liberty Wingspan, my high school newspaper, where I write a weekly opinion column, called Monday’s with Ms. Marvel, as well as doing news reporting. I can’t wait to share this next year of MUN with everyone!
