MEET THE SECRETARIAT

Aashi Oswal, TXMUN Secretary General
SECRETARY GENERAL, Aashi Oswal

Hi, my name is Aashi Oswal and I’m your 2024-2025 Secretary General! I’m a senior at Liberty High School and am so excited to be able to serve as the Secretary General of TXMUN this year. I have been involved in Model UN since 7th grade and it has shaped my passion for global public advocacy and social justice. I am dedicated to fostering an environment in TXMUN that showcases what Model UN is truly about; collaboration, promoting change, and a drive for bettering the world around us. Apart from serving as president of my school/regional club’s MUN and YG chapters, I serve as captain of my school’s varsity debate team and as president of my DECA chapter. I have a huge passion for dance being a part of my school’s varsity dance team, learning classical Indian dance for 7+ years, and teaching Bollywood dance outside of school. I want to eventually pursue international law in the future, an interest that I continue to grow through my involvement in various debate programs and social justice activities such as cofounding my own nonprofit, Rallying for Refugees. In my free time, you can find me baking and decorating cakes, binge-watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S., or hanging out with my friends! I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve as your TXMUN Secretary General and I can’t wait to continue to grow this program into a change-making experience for all delegates!

DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL, Jiya Sharma

Hello everyone! My name is Jiya Sharma and I will be serving as your TXMUN Deputy Secretary General this year! I am a junior at Liberty High School and this will be my fifth year in the program, and my third year as a state officer. In addition, I am also a MUN officer at my school and my local YMCA.  I initially joined MUN in 7th grade, and my passion for public speaking, world issues, and helping others has only grown since then. Apart from that, I enjoy spending my free time listening to music and running cross country with friends. You can always find me at a local boba shop picking up a new drink to try and review. As we begin this year, I am so excited to help you further your MUN journey. See y'all at conference!

Giselle Moreno, TXMUN Undersecretary of Conference
UNDER SECRETARY OF CONFERENCE, Giselle Moreno

Hey ya’ll, my name is Giselle Moreno and I am honored to serve as your 2024-2025 Undersecretary of Conference! I am a Senior at Duncanville High School and this will be my second year serving on the TXMUN Secretariat! Throughout my time in Model UN, I have grown a deep passion and understanding for international relations and public policy.

I first became interested in civic engagement through the YMCA’s Youth and Government (YG) program where I also serve on the State officer board as Youth Attorney General. Being involved in both Model UN and YG has allowed me to deepen my understanding and passion for government relations. To tell you more about myself, at school, some of the things that I am involved in include, Model UN, Youth and Government, DECA, National Honor Society, and Student Council. I am also passionate about public policy and creating a difference in my community so I enjoy working with local politicians; I spent this past summer working as a campaign fellow. In addition to that, over the summer I participated in the UT McCombs Subiendo Rising Scholars Program, The Congressional Hispanic Caucus NextGen leadership program, and the University of Pennsylvania Early Exploration Program. In my free time, you can catch me reading books ranging from Jane Austen to Taylor Jenkins Reid, listening to music (T-Swift, The Weeknd, Cage the Elephant, Frank Ocean), and traveling with friends and family. I am looking forward to yet another great year of MUN and can't wait to see you guys again!

Hey everyone! I'm Srikrishna Rajagopal, your new Undersecretary of Education for Texas Model UN. I'm super excited about this role and can't wait to get started! Outside of Model UN, I'm really into law and political science, which fuels my passion for making a difference through education. When I'm not buried in books, you can find me playing the mridangam, a classical Indian percussion instrument that I've been dedicated to for seven years. I also love staying active by playing soccer and volleyball in my free time. I'm thrilled to bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to our team and can't wait to work with all of you to make this year unforgettable!

Kewal Jajoo, TXMUN Chief of Public Information
CHIEF OF PUBLIC INFORMATION, Kewal Jajoo

Hey, My name is Kewal Jajoo and I am so excited to be your Chief of Public Information for the 2024-2025 school year. This will be my 3rd year in Model UN but I have been on the staff of a few other conferences and was in the YMCA’s MUN Media Team last year. Model UN gave me a reason to keep up with modern news but also gifted me with improvements in skills like public speaking, debating, and research. I have learned much about international relations, public advocacy, and various perspectives on pressing issues. All these skills have shaped me into who I am today, and have greatly improved my leadership. Apart from YMCA MUN, I am a senior at Frisco High School. I’ve served on my school’s model UN team but am also involved in various non-profits, BPA, school clubs, and my start-up. Outside of all this, I love binge-watching movies and sitcoms and hanging out with friends and family. I am so excited to work with my fellow Secretariat members and friends to make this year another memorable year for delegates.

Amir Smith, TXMUN Chief of Outreach
CHIEF OF OUTREACH, Amir Smith

Hello everyone! My name is Amir Smith and it's my pleasure this year to serve as your Chief of Outreach! I am a senior at ILTexas KSHS, and this will be my 4th year in the program, and 3rd as a state officer: pushing my interests in human rights, incarceration and environmental policy to hopefully take public office one day. This year I most look forward to making this the best year of all before I graduate– as well as passing as much on to the new delegates as well. At school I serve as Student Body President, as well as president of AAPI Student Associ’asian’ and MUN. Over the past year I have also participated as a Delegate to the United Nations, under projects for ceasefire, allocating funding for Sudanese refugees to UN climate agreements. Along with this I am currently working to propose TX legislation to prevent rent-hikes and incarceration. Outside of school I am an absolute movie buff (now accepting recommendations), participate in taekwondo being a 2x USATKD National Qualifier but nonetheless I am so excited for this upcoming years conferences!
