LIVESTRONG AT THE PLANO YMCA

 

Goal:

Our goal is to help participants build muscle mass and muscle strength, increase flexibility and endurance and improve functional ability. Additional goals include reducing the severity of therapy side effects, preventing unwanted weight changes, and improving energy levels and self-esteem. A final goal of the program is to assist participants to develop their own physical fitness program so they can continue to practice a healthy lifestyle, beyond just their recovery.  The program also provides participants with a supportive environment and camaraderie with fellow survivors, YMCA staff, and members.

Classes are hosted Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 AM and 5:30 PM.

Format:

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a twelve-week fitness program designed for cancer survivors. This program is designed to provide physical and emotional support for cancer survivors during and after treatment protocols. Participants meet twice a week for twelve weeks.

Instructors:

Sessions are led by nationally certified Personal Trainers who have compassionate and motivating attitudes. The certified staff is trained in post-rehab exercise, nutrition, and supportive cancer care.

Cost:

This twelve-week fitness program is offered FREE of charge to the cancer survivor. Also provided is a free 3-month family membership to the PLANO FAMILY YMCA.
