MORE ABOUT CAMP
YOUNG ADVENTURERS
Ages 6-8
At YMCA Camp on the Lake, kids have fun and make new friends while taking part in supervised activities that embrace the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. We know that young campers gain a greater sense of security and community by remaining with their “new” friends and camp counselors. That is why we engage children in age-appropriate activities that encourage camaraderie and social interaction so that they feel comfortable and free to experience all the possibilities Camp on the Lake has to offer. Campers are grouped together by age and gender, if they have a friend coming to camp, please let us know and we will do our best to group them together (must be same gender and within 2 years of age, campers aged 8 or under will not be able to join groups of campers ages 9 and up).
These Young Adventurers will participate in activities such as Archery, Swimming, Boating, Canoeing, Sailing, Riflery, Crafts, and Field Games plus many more!
EXPERIENCED EXPLORERS
9-13 Yrs
Most day camps have a set curriculum of activities that all campers are required to adhere to. In essence, its one size fits all. That doesn’t always work for campers in this age group who crave as much time as possible at the activities they love such as sailing and boating while quicker mini periods for other activities to get in as much fun as possible each day. Larger activities such as boating, sailing, and crafts will run for an hour each. Smaller activities such as swimming, canoes, field game, and archery/bb's will run for 30 minutes to allow for more activities throughout the camp day. Campers are grouped together by age and gender, if they have a friend coming to camp please let us know and we will group them together. (must be same gender and within 2 years of age, campers age 8 or under will not be able to join groups of campers ages 9 and up).
Some of the activities offered include: Swimming, Archery, Canoeing/Kayaking, Crafts, Group Games, Nature Exploration, Sports, BB riflery, Sailing, Tubing, and much more!
