The J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall's basketball program is offered in the winter season.  The program helps kids become not only better basketball players, but better people as well. Youth basketball is a progressive program, with multiple age-specific levels. Every child gets to play and the games are safe, exciting and fun. We encourage fair play, positive competition, and family involvement.

Unlike most youth basketball leagues, the Y has no tryouts. So all kids can experience basketball in a fun, friendly, level playing field that allows all players to have fun. Kids basketball is for PreK (ages 3 -4 yrs) and Youth (Grades k thru 8th). 

Basketball is played in the winter. Registration begins in September and the season begins in January for PRE-K and December for YOUTH. 

Winter Participants should register based on the calendar grade of Fall 2024 to end of Summer 2025 school year.   Children must turn 3 by September 1^st to play.

• PrK/Kinder: 27.5 Lite
• 1st/2nd: 27.5
• 3rd/4th/5th/6th: 28.5
• 7th/8th Girls: 28.5
• 7th/8th Boys: 29.5

Games will be played at Rockwall ISD Elementary and Middle Schools

Practices are located at Rockwall ISD Elementary and Middle Schools

Divisions: Based on grades.  Kinder - 2nd grade will play on 8 ft goals 3rd - 8th grade will play on 10 ft goals.

Friend/Coach requests are accepted on registration forms but are not guaranteed.  YMCA reserves the right to add  any player(s) to a roster if necessary.  

Coaches: Are volunteers that must register for a Criminal Background Check with Athlete Protection training. If you are interested in coaching please indicate so on your registration form and click on the link of Volunteer Coach on the left sidebar.

Basketball League Registration

Basketball Small Fry/PK3/PK4/Bitty (AGES 3 - 4 YRS)

Kids ages 3-4 years, experience a fun introduction to the game with an emphasis on basketball fundamentals, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Children build confidence and social skills in a structured, fun, and non-competitive environment.

Six one-hour session (game or practice) per week; includes instructional practices and instructional games.

First 3 weeks are practices and last 3 weeks are games.
